Community Guidelines

Effective Date: May 2026

The Guitar Vault is a community for musicians, collectors, luthiers, and instrument enthusiasts. To keep it useful and trustworthy for everyone, we ask all users to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination.

These guidelines sit alongside our full Terms of Service, which govern your use of the platform. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service prevail.

01 Be Honest

The value of The Guitar Vault depends on the accuracy of its records. You must:

  • only create records for instruments you own or have legitimate authority to document;
  • ensure all information — condition, provenance, history, specifications — is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
  • not fabricate, exaggerate, or misrepresent any detail about an instrument;
  • not use AI tools to generate or edit images or records in a way that misrepresents an instrument's appearance, condition, or history.

02 No Stolen or Misappropriated Gear

Do not create or claim records for instruments that are stolen, misappropriated, or obtained unlawfully. If you believe an instrument listed on the platform is stolen:

  • do not attempt to claim or transfer the record;
  • report it to us at legal@guitarvaultapp.com with any supporting information;
  • contact local law enforcement if appropriate.

Guitar Vault will cooperate with law enforcement investigations relating to stolen instruments.

03 No Fake Listings or Fraudulent Records

Do not create records intended to deceive buyers, insurers, or other users. This includes:

  • creating duplicate records to inflate apparent provenance;
  • backdating or falsifying maintenance or ownership histories;
  • issuing builder certificates for instruments you did not build;
  • misrepresenting modifications, repairs, or condition.

04 No Impersonation

Do not impersonate another person, builder, brand, or organisation. This includes:

  • creating an account in the name of a real builder or brand you are not;
  • issuing certificates or records as if from a builder or authority you do not represent;
  • using another user's name, identity, or likeness without permission.

05 Respectful Communication

Keep all interactions on the platform respectful. We do not tolerate:

  • harassment, threats, or abusive language directed at any user;
  • discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic;
  • deliberate attempts to intimidate or silence other users.

06 No Spam

Do not use the platform or its contact request feature to send unsolicited commercial messages or repetitive contact requests. This includes:

  • promoting external services or products without permission;
  • sending repeated contact requests to users who have not responded or have declined;
  • creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions.

07 No Unlawful Content

Do not upload or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes the rights of others. This includes:

  • content that violates copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights;
  • content that invades the privacy of any individual;
  • content that promotes or facilitates illegal activity.

08 Reporting Violations

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates these guidelines, please report it to support@guitarvaultapp.com. We review all reports and will take action where appropriate.

09 Enforcement

We reserve the right to remove content, issue warnings, suspend accounts, or permanently ban users who violate these guidelines or our Terms of Service. We are not obliged to provide reasons for enforcement decisions, and we are not liable for any consequences arising from enforcement action taken in good faith.
